Break Types enable adding secondary permissions for each Category of Breaks. This allows you to differentiate between various break scenarios, such as on-site versus off-site meal breaks, while maintaining consistent penalties across the category. The behavior and restrictions can be customized to align with the specific needs of each client, offering flexibility without compromising compliance.
Go to the Master Company Settings tab > navigate to General Settings > and then select Break Types
**You can add as many Break Types as necessary. To do so, click the Add button located in the top right corner of the page.
*Each Break Type consists of five configuration sections:
1. Category
Select the relevant Break Category (as previously set up under "Break Categories") that this Break Type will belong to.
2. Name
Define a Code Name and a Display Name
3. Pay/Bill
Set up payment and billing rules for the selected break category. You will need to choose one of the following options for both the Pay and Bill fields:
- NONE: The break is not paid or billed.
- BASE: The break is paid/billed using the base rate of the shift, but the break time does not count towards the employee's total hours worked.
- WORK: The break is paid/billed as if it were worked time, and it counts towards the employee's total hours worked.
**Additionally, you can check a box to apply these rules even if the break is missed.
4. Misc
Configure two optional settings by selecting their respective checkboxes:
- Reconciled if not taken via Mobile App: This setting determines whether breaks should be sent to reconciliation when shifts are created retroactively. Enabling this ensures that past-dated shifts include associated breaks in the reconciliation process, while disabling it excludes them.
- Required Clock Out: The user must manually clock out of the break. If not enabled, the break will automatically end when the scheduled time is up.
5. Action
Click Save to finalize the configuration for each Break Type.
