The 1099 NEC is the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) form to report nonemployee compensation that is, pay from 1099 independent contractor jobs (also sometimes referred to as self-employment income)
To generate the 1099-NEC report, navigate to the 'Reports' Module and click "Company Reports"
Should you have not previously added this report to your available report list, please click on the green [+ New]. You may then enter a 'Report Name' to distinguish your report, and under 'Base Report,' select '1099-NEC Report' from the dropdown menu. Once completed, click the green [Save] button to add your new report.
Now that you have added this report to your list, click on the green [Play Button] on the 1099-NEC report; this will open up a new window.
You will see the filters for you to input the information desired for the system to build the report.
Filters:
- Year: Select the year the 1099-NEC should be built for
- State: Select a state, This will build the 1099-NEC report for employees on the selected state
- Sort employees By: sort by last name or SSN
- Show Background: Toggle on if you want the 1099-NEC background to be included. Leave off for printing purposes.
After applying your filters, click on 'Build Report.' Once the report is generated, you may choose to either 'Download' or 'Create File.'
- 'Create File' generates a file that can be uploaded to the IRS Portal.
